Informing the Student Journey by Creating a Data Estate

Introduction to CFEED’s Data Collaboration

CFEED is a modern example of how institutions responsible for the student journey collaborate to create insights. This partnership aims to streamline and enhance data processes within the Central Florida education system, improving how data is collected, analyzed, and shared from K-12 through university levels.

CFEED’s role is crucial in gathering extensive data from local schools, colleges, and universities. CFEED plays a crucial role in compiling extensive data ranging from local schools to universities. By contributing their own section of the student journey, CFEED houses and pulls together a comprehensive view of the student journey. This integration allows stakeholders to thoroughly analyze and gain insights, on how to continue to best serve the students in their part of the journey. This collaborative effort supports the development of strategies to effectively navigate and optimize student pathways.

Advanced Data Management

Since 2018, CFEED has been meticulously organizing 15 years of historical data into a sophisticated data Lakehouse, utilizing Microsoft Azure for enhanced structure and accessibility. This setup includes a rich array of longitudinal student records, analytical subject areas, and 466 diagnostic variables.

CFEED utilizes its Lakehouse to systematically organize data, harnessing AI and machine learning to develop Student Journey Enrichment Models. These models focus on key areas such as post-secondary readiness dual enrollment readiness, transfer readiness, and transfer shock, generating insights that are crucial for making data-driven decisions and designing precise interventions to improve student outcomes.

Impact on Student Success

The practical application of insights from the data estate directly influences academic practices and policies. For educators and administrators, this means access to actionable data that can guide the development of programs that not only attract students but also significantly enhance their chances of academic and career success.
